Plans have now been approved for a new luxury shopping area at Malaga airport that should be open by March 2014. The new exclusive zone will accommodate around 220 square meters of shops with designer names like Loewe, Aelia and Gucci, who are all interested in renting premises.
The design of this new project will be in the form of a spanish style square with shops located around the square. Work has now started on the project but will apparently be put on hold through the busy summer months. It will provide work for around 50 workmen during the building stage and around 100 staff will be needed when the shopping zone opens.
The only other Spanish airports with a similar up market shopping zone are Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat airports.
