A busy Easter week in store at AGP

Allowed is set for Easter Week, which in practical and economic terms begins today. The total number of car road trips that have been forecast by the General Office of Traffic is 470,000 for the province of Malaga throughout all week. In the first stage, which begins today and is known as the “departure operation”, 120.000 vehicles travelling on the road while in the second, which begins on Wednesday, there will be a hefty 250,000. The heaviest traffic is expected for on the stretch of road between Casabermeja and Malaga.

Regarding flight travel, Malaga airport will schedule 3490 flights during the next week, expecting a whopping 567,636 passengers to transfer through Malaga airport. The busiest days will be both Saturdays, April 12th, with 357 flights scheduled and 60,320 seats available and April 19th, with 347 landings and takeoffs and 57,000 passengers.

The remaining flights are spread during the rest of the week. Numbers range between 45,900 seats scheduled on Easter Tuesday and 30,000 on Easter Sunday, with 57,736 seats available in all airlines flying out of Malaga airport.

Malaga airport will account for 66% of all the flights scheduled for the whole of Andalucía during this upcoming Easter Week and 69% of expected passengers.

Malaga airport closed the first quarter of this year with growth over three times the average passenger media of the whole airport network and nine times average growth of departures and arrivals. Data provided by Aena yesterday showed that up to March, the airport has recorded almost seven percent more passenger transfers when compared to the national average growth of 1.8%. They have recorded over two million passengers during the slowest two months of the year. As for landings and takeoffs, the rise experienced in the Malaga airport is nine points, while the rest of all Spanish airports closed this period with a slight increase of 0.9%.

Last year, the bulk of flights and passengers computed during this period included Easter Week, which began on March 24th. Last month ended with positive growth, with an increase of almost 2% and registered arrivals of 848,000 passengers. This is the lowest quarterly rise, which began in January with a 9.5% increase and continued in February with 10.8% more passengers.
