Eight hundred and thirty six homes around Malaga airport have been made soundproofed recently. These properties were included in the area of noise-footprint, and the number represents 96% of the Malaga Airport Soundproofing Plan (PAA). Fourteen million euros have been earmarked for this extensive project by AENA.
The improvements have been totally completed for 808 homes and are in progress for the other 28, with work being completed at a very fast pace.
The current housing census of Malaga Airport Soundproofing includes 911 dwellings entitled to apply for soundproofing and they must meet three essential conditions in order to transfer eligibility. Thus, they must be homes or buildings in current use, that are located within the noise footprint of the airport and must hold a construction license prior to the publication of the Environmental Impact Statement that apply to them.
More than 911,000 dwellings are located within the metropolitan area of Malaga and 84 are located in Alhaurín de la Torre.
Up to now, the office responsible for the management of the plan has received 867 requests transferred from area neighbours, according to data contributed in the ninth meeting of the PAA monitoring group, which took place on Thursday.
The monitoring group includes representatives from Aena, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Council for the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Junta de Andalucía and Malaga and Alhaurín de la Torre Town Councils.
