The number of flights at Malaga Airport has skyrocketed this year, particularly in April, exceeding 10.000, 11.9% more than during April 2013. May follows the trend of the last few months, strengthened by the increase of national market when compared to the same period last year, according to a release from the airport.
Out of the total number of travelers, 438,686 flew from or to the UK on direct non transfer flights, followed by 131,098 passengers travelling between Spanish cities and flying on routes to and from to Germany, 75,904 for France and 59,491 the Netherlands.
The busiest day of the month was Saturday 12th, just before Easter week. That day was “peak day” in terms of number of passengers, amounting to 52,236 and also the busiest regarding number of flights, with 379 landings and takeoffs.
During the first four months of 2014, Malaga Airport has registered 10% more flights and 9.5% more passengers than during the first four months in 2013.
The international market follows the trend during the same time period. The volume of travelers and international flights between January and April was 85.5% of total traffic figures. It is over ten percent, with 13.3% more passengers.
Malaga Airport Taxi also experienced an all time April peak for taxi transfers from Malaga Airport to Marbella and Nerja, corroborating the passenger figures for Malaga Airport.
