Malaga Airport has earned the “Airport Food Court Of The Year” award, given by the British multimedia group Moodie. The airport competed against other international airports such as Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Phoenix or Amsterdam.
SSP Spain, food supplier for Malaga airport had already been nominated for this award back in 2011, as reported today in a statement.
In this yearly “Food Court” category, awards are given to the best restaurant galleries and food courts in airports in which several culinary trends are offered, managed by one or more suppliers.
The award’s jury took into accounts the variety of options at Malaga airport food court, and praised its location and the fact that it covers all traveler’s needs, depending on their taste and budget.
This award has now been given to a Spanish airport for the very first time. Malaga airport is the first in the country to be recognised by the FAB awards, awarded by the Moodie group via The Moodie Report, their publication. The awards were announced early morning yesterday in Copenhagen.
Dani García Deli Bar, also operated by SSP at Malaga airport food court was also nominated in the Best Restaurant of the Year Lead by a Chef category. This award was given to the world famous British chef Jamie Oliver and to his restaurant in Gatwick airport. Dani Garcia received a special mention alongside Kirei by Kabuki restaurant, owned by Ricardo Sanz and located in Madrid Barajas airport. Root Down/Mission Yogurt restaurant in Denver airport also received a special mention.
