Around 162 passengers were affected on Thursday by a delay of ten hours on a Bucharest-Malaga flight operated by Blue Air due to the pilot decision. The flight was scheduled to depart at 18:00. All 162 passengers boarded the aircraft, but the plane did not leave until around 12 hours later. The captain had decided that for some reason he could not fly.
The explanation that was given to the passengers whilst on board was that due to "technical problems the plane could not take-off," said an affected student to Europa Press. She also complained that they were "about 13 hours waiting at the airport" until they eventually were able to get in the air.
While waiting at Henri Coanda Bucharest International Airport, passengers complained that the airline company only offered them "water bottles". A Blue Air spokesman belied this saying "We gave them seven hours of bonus food and drink". Finally, at 3:00 in the morning the airline was able to take off. All 162 passengers arrived at Malaga Airport at 4:30 am, tired and sleepy. Blue Air acknowledged that so far 71 claims have been made from those seeking compensation from the low-cost airline for this long flight delay.
