New flight connects AGP with JFK

A direct flight to New York from Malaga Airport will be available again this week. American airline - Delta Airlines - will resume the non transfer (non-stop) connection between the capital of the Costa del Sol and JFK Airport from Friday, June 6. This flight opens the way to U.S. travellers to holiday in the province of Malaga, which is of great importance due to US holidaymakers longer stays and greater purchasing power.

Sources from Delta stated that more than 2,000 seats a week will be offered to and from the United States, a much higher number than last year. Delta started operating at Malaga airport in 2008, an activity that began with a desire to remain active throughout the year, but since 2009 it has only operated during peak season. This year Delta increase the number of seats for passengers, since last year the airline offered an average of 1,500 seats a week, according to information provided by the airline itself.

During June there will be four options per week to fly from Malaga to New York and vice versa. However, from July the flight frequency will be increased to five per week. Malaga residents desiring to travel on these flights should consider that in June they may do so every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, given that the flights will depart at 11:50 hours. From July there will be an added flight to the Big Apple every Wednesday. For Americans who choose to travel to Costa del Sol, flights will depart from JFK Terminal at 20:40 hours on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays during June and also on Tuesdays from July.

The direct flight between Malaga and New York will be operated with a B757-200 plane, with capacity for 167 passengers. "Delta offers more options to customers from Malaga with flights to the United States right at the time when our customers are more interested in visiting, for instance, in the summer months," said Perry Cantarutti, senior vice president of Delta for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Additionally, some changes that will improve service were announced. "Passengers will be able to see changes in the aircraft while we continue to invest in our products and services with new proposals on board and improved facilities at JFK," he said. Among them, he pointed out the introduction of wireless connection on Delta-operated flights between Spain and the United States, which will allow passengers to connect to the Internet throughout their trip. In addition, this route will have 15 seats in Business class. Also, customers who fly in Economy Comfort, the premium service on Delta, can enjoy additional leg room and 50% more recline on their seats than standard class seats of Delta Economy on international flights, as well as priority boarding.

Malaga Airport Taxi operate direct private transfers from all flights from the USA coming into Malaga to locations throughout the Costa del Sol and Spain.
