German market rises due to promotion

The number of German tourists arriving at Malaga Airport increased considerably last year. Forecasts suggest that this increase will continue during 2015. The German market has placed their trust in the Costa del Sol and is now a vital market.

Among the expectations for this year is an increase of 3.6% in the number of German tourists coming to Costa del Sol. Economically speaking, the German market is expected to reach 1307 million euros this year, up 4.3% from 1252 million reached in 2014.

The German market is a mature market, but still has plenty of growth potential as the Germans see the Costa del Sol as a priority destination.

Costa del Sol is the second mainland destination in the ranking for German tourism in Spain and aiming to reach a wider audience. The Malaga province will develop a new promotional campaign next month that will take Málaga to Berlin taxicabs. Thirty-five cabs in Berlin will carry the “Siempre Cálida” logo, some of which were presented yesterday at the Paris Square in Berlin.

The objective of this campaign is to reach over 400.000 people, his is over 10% of the population of Berlin. The spokesman for Malaga tourism stated that Berlin has the “potential that we must promote and not ignore”.

Currently, four out of ten Germans arriving in Andalucía choose the seaside coast as the destination with 671.000 German passengers passing through Malaga airport and more than 300.000 German guests stayed in hotels. The number of passengers arriving at Malaga airport between 2010 and 2014 grew by 22.8%, while the number of travellers staying in hotels rose 18% and overnight stays, 11.2%.
