Malaga - New York flight

Jason Oshiopekhai, head of Strategy and Sales at Delta Airlines and Francisco Artacho, managing director of Turismo Andaluz held a meeting to discuss the results of the only direct flight New York- Malaga that only operates during the summer months. Mr. Oshiokpehai assessed the results of this direct flight, the only one that the company flies between the US and Andalusia, specifically to Malaga airport. This has led to an agreement to develop joint marketing actions to promote Malaga as a holiday destination in the United States.

The demand for this flight in the North American market will facilitate future meetings between both parts to addressed the implementation of various marketing initiatives in origin, with the aim to improve the position of Andalusia as a destination in the sales network of the airline.

Delta Airlines has operated the non transfer flight connection in Malaga since 2008, although the frequency was reduced last year to only the summer months. During this season, the flight to JFK airport started to operate on June 6th offering 2000 seats a week - considerably higher than the 1500 seats a week sold by the airline last year.

During the month of June, there were four flights a week scheduled to fly between Malaga airport and New York and vice-versa. However, from July 2014 that figure went up to five a week, on a B757-200 plane, having a 167 passenger capacity. “Delta offers customers more options to the United States precisely when our clients show the most interest to go visit there, that is, during summer months” said Perry Cantarutti, senior vice-president of Delta Airlines.
